unrelenting error message
Hello,
Everything was going well with my project until I made a duplicate of it and put the duplicate on an external hard drive for backup. The next time I opened the original project file, nothing else having been changed, I got this error message:
“Zero denominator converting ratio denominators (17 : : 18)”
It pops up every time I try to click anywhere in the timeline, both in the original file and the copy. I have AE CS3 Pro.
I appreciate any help with this!

ONe of the major failures of Adobe is they never give us errors that mean something.
This suggests a layer somewhere in project has an expression or some movement calculation that requires division by zero, which simply cannot be done.
Try importing the project into an empty project.
Then try deleting half the layers. Then delete half of the the other half, &c.Do you have any 3D layers? Try turning them off first. Expressions that you wrote yourself?

I tried what you just suggested and noted that when I deleted the video footage layer that was imported from FCP as a QT movie, the error message disappeared.
Obvious adjustments have to be done to the footage. One thing I did note is I right clicked on the footage, went to Interpret Footage > Main & noted the frame rate is at 0.01. The frame rate I have have used in all my Compositions has been 29.97. I changed it to 29.97, but it does not change it and I

Please help me figure out what’s causing this…..
Out of curiosity, I have 5 related compositions under 1 project – could it be caused from composition overload?

This is probably too late for the last poster, but for anyone else whose getting this, i got it too and it turned out that the codec for my video (lagarith in this case) wasnt installed. Must of forgot it after i reinstalled windows.
