    Hi,

I was editing at a studio using Final Cut Pro and I get the impression that the system is not setup properly. I’m finding the system runs very slowly. They are running on G5 towers with at least 4 gigs of ram. It could be that the systems just haven’t been maintained over the years and are in need of maintenance. But other issues keep coming up that make me wonder if by changing some settings I could get it to run smoother.

The two main issues I’m seeing are:
    1. Simple text supers have to be rendered after placing them on the timeline. Is this normal? I’ve been editing in Avid quite a bit recently as well and there is no need for this. But every time I place a new super on the timeline in this FCP studio it has to be rendered and ever time I move it or shift it I have to render it again.

    2. I am having the same issue for video transitions. Every time I use them they have to be rendered. I know these do require rendering but is there are shortcut or setting that will automatically render them when added to a clip?

    3. One of the videos types I have to work on are presentation videos with slides. The slides are jpegs. When I bring them into the timeline they also have to be rendered. Is this normal? I used FCP several years ago and don’t remember it being so clunky.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

The most important question. What kind of Sequence settings we’re talking about here?

    Sure, they are as follows.

The sequence setting are Photo-jpeg 640*480 square pixel, 29.97
The footage files are also Photo-jpeg 640*480 square pixel, 29.97
