I will receive a HDCAM SR tape of D21 footage shot log. How do I capture it in linear? I got to do a 1080p ProRes file of it for a demo. Should I capture log and post-process it?

Capture it in linear? I don’t know what you mean.

Rent an HDCAM SR deck, or if you have one, all the better. Connect that to an HD capture card…AJA, Matrox, Decklink. Choose a ProRes capture setting (Easy Setup). Then capture.

[Mathieu Marano] “How do I capture it in linear?”

If it’s recorded to tape as log, you capture it as log and do your log to lin conversion afterwards. Exactly how to do that depends on what software you’re working with and what you intend to do with it.
