Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Unknown FIle

    Hello,

I have a DVD that I need to cut in Final Cut Pro. I used a program called Hand Brake to rip the DVD and create an .mov, when I open it in Quicktime Pro it says under format, Apple Mpeg4 Decompressor. Whenever I drag this .mov into final cut I get the fiollowing, “File Error, Unknown File”

    If I go, File>Import>files I get, “File Error: 1 file(s) recognised, 0 access denied, 1 unknown”

I converted this to a pro res file using quicktime pro and it went from being 902MB to 18.41GB and when I try and bring the prores file into Final Cut it gives me the same warnings.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

I just converted the quicktime to a Photo Jpg mov and also a DVC pro NTSC .mov and it does the same thing when I try to import it.

Pulling video from a DVD comes up quite often on the Cow so its actually the first question answered on the Final Cut Pro FAQ list.

    Thanks Zane,

I checked it out and it said Handbrake was OK but I guess not.
