Universal bibnary codecs
Hello everyone,
I just run into a problem that I was not aware of before. I have a G5 with BM HD pro PCie where I capture all my footage. recently I got a MacBook Pro. I downloaded the Blackmagic software codecs from their site and installed them in to my quicktime directory. I also went through the procedure described by blackmagic where sometimes those codecs fail to load.
What surprised me was that the codec is not visible as an option neither in Shake 4.1 nor in FCP 5.1.1
I can’t even preview any moviefiles that are coded with the blackmagic codec. Opening them in quicktime leaves me with a white screen
I learned in the meantime from an older post that these software codecs are not universal binary, so they won’t work on an intel mac. I upgraded my G5 blackmagic utility to the newest beta which supports MacPro to see if the software driver component has also been also been updated but from the date it was created it seems that it is the same as the one I already have. The update seems to affect only the hardware driver.
does anyone know a workaround or if there will be an update to the software codec?
And I just wonder, how does this work on an MacPro since the software driver component seems to be the same as previously (not universal binary)
Greetings
