  • Unislot Drop-in Wireless Mic Question – (SDX900 Question)

Posted by Peter Corbett on November 2, 2006 at 2:52 am

Does anyone have experience of the Azden 1000URX/Si or Sennheiser EK-3041U Unislot wireless systems for Panasonic cameras? The Sennheiser is a fair bit dearer, but I’m hoping that with a quality mic, the Azden may be okay enough for corporates.

There is a group here in Columbia, SC that has the Azden mic in their SDX-900 and thay are less than impressed. I would stay with a standard Lectrosonic 201 or 411. They have proven to be some of the best wireless mics on the market. A bit pricey, but you truely get what you pay for when it comes to wireless mics.

Thanks for that. I’ve gone for a Sennheiser slot-in 3000 series mic system. The Letrosonics would be nice, but I want the general convenience of a on-board system.

Letrosonics is working on a uni-slot system they hope to have ready for NAB07 last I talked to them. Anyone thinking about unislot should wait for that if at all possible.

Couldn’t wait. Got a Sennheiser 3041 combo. Thanks for the heads-up on Letrosonics.

I have to confess that we haven’t yet addressed the unislot issue with our 900, but you’ve inspired me to consider it.

I haven’t seen this slot before and am curious about the power drain with the mic system in place. Can you help with some info on that? Also, where did you find the best deal on your Senheiser?

    Muchas Gracias

    Hi Patrick,

We have loads of high-capacity Sony lithiums, so battery use by the ob-board wireless is the last of my worries. I’m usually more worried about the double-A’s going flat in the stand-alone wireless recievers we use now. I got mine from Joyce at Bexel for around $1780 with the Panasonic D-pin adaptor. She is great to deal with. That’s where I got my SDX900.
