I am trying uninstall Compressor 3.0.5 because it is really sluggish.

I can’t find any preference files
( com.apple.Compressor.CompressorSharedService.plist or com.apple.compressor.Compressor.plist in the preference folder associated with the application in the home folder.

    What does this mean?

If you download FCS remover, it will take care of removing all the necessary files.

There are options to remove everything from FCS or individual applications.

removing compressor is a bad idea unless you’re trying to solve another issue.
