August 24, 2007 at 3:57 amThere haven’t been any complaints here about QT 7.2 in weeks. It did seem to temporarily mess up or corrupt a few things such as Kona drivers and such, I had that issue myself, but what makes you think its the source of your problems?

August 24, 2007 at 4:50 amWe are having XSAN issues which may or may not be related and unexplained crashes when scrubbing files in the viewer and even quicktime itself. I had a FCP class a couple of weeks ago where Larry Jordan said to stay away form 7.2 but we had already done it here as well.

August 24, 2007 at 5:33 amI have used the following process outlined in the macfixit link provided.
It isn’t a totally satifactory fix.
Leftover files installed by 7.2 are not replaced or removed by the reinstall of 7.1.6.Proceed at your own risk.
—————————————–
Get 7.1.6 here:
https://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime716formac.htmlFor those who installed QT 7.2 and then discovered problems with some other applications and have tried, or intend to try the “force reinstall” of QT 7.1.6 with Pacifist, using the method outlined here:
…there may be a gotcha.
The 7.2 installer creates a new folder “MIO” that didn’t exist with 7.1.6
./Library/Application Support/ProApps/
MIO/RAD/Components/QuickTimeH264.componentAnd that is “QuickTimeH264.component” version 7.2
The same version of this “QuickTimeH264.component” is also installed in the QuickTime folder in ./System/Library/QuickTimeThe same updated QuickTimeH264.component is installed in two different locations.
When you do a force reinstall of QT 7.1.6, the correct 7.1.6 version is restored in the ./System/Library/QuickTime folder, but it doesn’t know anything about that new folder.
So what you end up with are two different versions of the “QuickTimeH264.component” in your system. What the consquences of this may be I don’t yet know.
Leave the new folder alone, or delete it?
I have deleted it and haven’t experienced any obvious problems…yet. The best solution is to wait for QT 7.2.1
or do an “archive and install” (shudder) which will invariably mess up your FC Studio install enough that you will then be forced to erase your hard drive and start all over again. -

August 24, 2007 at 3:12 pmyeah I’m in the same boat.
Upgraded to it and fixed nothing, but broke flip4mac exports.
Now I’m hearing popping noises an awful lot when playing the timeline.

Try uninstalling your capture card drivers and reinstalling–that worked with my Kona LH after the QT and/or Pro Apps update screwed them up rather royally.
