“Unhandled Exception” Error & Flash Encode Issues
Hello,
I’ve just purchased Episode 4.4 and I’m having great difficulty performing very basic encodes (system specs below. recently downgraded QT to 7.3.1.)
Movies exported from FCP 5 (both ref & sc) result in an “Unhandled Exception” error when using almost any of the presets- H264, QT, WMV, etc. Mpeg2 seems ok. Tried moving source file to local drive (from FW) but no change. The encode starts for 2 seconds then “re-starts” then after several seconds results in “done with 1 error” “unhandled exception.”
Flash encodes often make the default 3 attempts with finished files resulting in what appears to be half speed video over normal audio.
Been troubleshooting for several hours and I’m baffled as to what the cause of these errors are. I’ve searched several boards all over and I’ve seen only 1 other person with this error message, but no solution posted and no one with the same flash problem. I’m new to Episode and have pretty basic encoding experience but I thought it would be simpler than this…
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve also placed this post in the Episode forum but haven’t gotten any response so thought I’d try here at the risk of redundancy…

Firstly I’s try a complete uninstall and reinstall of Episode. Use something like Appzapper to make sure you get rid of all the associated files before you reinstall.
I assume you done all the usual repair of permissions etc?

Daniel THANK U. I did an uninstall and re-install but did not use an uninstall program nor did i repair permissions. how silly of me. thanks for the logical advice. i should have known better.

Judy are you on Episode 4.4? Try updating to 4.4.1.

Just checked and it is 4.4.1 Problem seems to be solved though after repairing permissions and re-installing… though m2v encodes seem to take ages…
