Unexpectedly Quits while switching from SD to HD sequences
All right, so I thought I was pretty good with Final Cut, but this one’s got me stumped.
I’m working with DVCPROHD footage, which I captured with a firewire HD deck (1200A), and I’m editing in a DVCPROHD sequence. Then, I need to take the footage to standard definition, and do a “center cut” on it (chop off the sides and make a 4 X 3 frame). So, I drag my HD sequence into a new, DVCPRO 50 timeline (which works fine because I shot the HD footage at 29.97).
Now, everything is working fine and dandy until I’m done exporting the DVCPRO 50 sequence and want to go back to working with an HD sequence. It doesn’t matter if it’s the same HD sequence as I started with or a new one. When I click on a tab for an HD sequence, Final Cut Pro unexpectedly quits. Every time. It’s the most consistent thing I’ve seen.
I’m on an XSAN, and I’ve tried doing this same thing on two different systems. One G5 is a dual 2.5 GHz with FCP 5.0.4, Tiger 10.4.4 and XSAN 1.2. The other G5 is a dual 2.5 GHz with FCP 5.0.2, Tiger 10.4.2 and XSAN 1.1. I have a Panasonic 1200A deck hooked up to the older system, and a Decklink HD Plus in the newer system (with updated drivers from Blackmagic).
Does anyone have any idea why Final Cut keeps quitting on me? I haven’t worked very heavily going back and forth between HD and SD before, so I’m assuming that’s the problem, but I don’t know what to change. Any ideas? Thanks so much for the help!
