  • Unexpected Exception when connected to external HDD

Posted by Felipe Allen on July 18, 2011 at 8:29 pm

Hi, I am having a repeated issue with AE issuing an unexpected exception error while opening a project. I have tried trashing my prefs however this does not solve the issue. The strange part is that this only occurs when I have an external HDD connected via firewire or USB. If I copy the project over to my local HDD, the project will open fine.

Does anyone have any ideas for a solution?! Obviously working on a local HDD is difficult for referencing assets and other files. Please help!

    Thanks!

    Hi Dave,

Both drives are formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled), so I don’t believe that the issue lies there :/

Could it be an extremely long path name?

The path to the project is Storage/Work/Client/Project/Project.aep. I am not sure what the general rules for length are. But a similar length path would work fine on my local HDD.

Any other ideas? I am really trying to get this figured out.
