  • Unexpected error when rendering finishes

Posted by Dennis Allyn on January 18, 2006 at 5:36 pm

I have been rendering a file after I used excalibur. I render first to .avi, and then connect several .avi files together and render as mpeg-2 for dvd. But after I render the first avi file, it finishes, but it always gives me an error box. It says something like “an unexpected error has occured” then gives me a details option. When I look at the rendered file it looks OK and did finish. Anyone know why I get this error message?
    Please help.

Are you possibly running out of disk space in the “Temp” folder? Did you change it off of your “C” drive?

No, it is using the default C:/My Documents folder as far as I know for the temp files. The rendering is going to my raid ‘0’ configuration on a 500 gig partition. It is a brand new system. So you think it may be from my temp files folder being on my system partition? What does that hurt in your words?

    Thanks, Dennis

Just wondering if the “C” drive might be getting full even though your video drive has plenty of space. That could cause an error of that nature.

When setting up Vegas, one of the first things I do is change the pre-render and temp locations to point to a specified folder on my video drive.

But what if my “C” drive is not full, would that still cause this error?

No. If the “C” drive is not full, the error would have been caused by something else.

I’m a little confused by the statement of your problem – are you getting the error when rendering DV-AVI or MPEG2? And if you try multiple times, does the error always happen in the same place?

I am rendering avi files. It always renders to a new avi file and rendering complete. Everything looks OK when I watch the avi file. But I always get this message right after it gets to 100% and says complete, then this box pops up about an unexpected error. Wondering why I get this message. I didn’t get it before I reformatted my hard drive.
