Let’s say you drop a video/audio clip onto your timeline, you end up deleting the sound file from the timeline and then nine months and nine hundred edits later you decide you want to reinstate the sound. Is there fast button or function to reinstate the original audio or would I have to track down the original clip in Premiere and re-drop the clip into the timeline?

    Here’s one way…

Put you cursor on the first frame of the video clip and hit “F” for Match Frame – this opens the original clip in the viewer with the cursor parked on the identical frame you were parked on in your sequence. If you hit “I” for In Point, you can then drag the clip and it’s audio to the timeline or hit insert or over-record just like a normal edit.
