  Undo not working

  Using FCP 603. I’m at a lose as the Undo and Redo options are not available (highlighted)in the edit menu. They were before but are not now? I’ve been to User Preferences and tried changing the numbers but that doesn’t work. Anyone have a suggestion? I’ve searched this forum but there were no results.
