    Hey all,
I’d like to create text that appears through water. I want it to look as though the text is rising out of the water almost with an embossed look. I know I haven’t done a great job describing what I am thinking but I’m hoping some of you mind readers out there can help me out. I have Studio 2 and Zaxwerks Pro Animator.

    Thanks
    Latisha

This definitely sounds like something you would want to do in motion or after effects, and I know I saw a tutorial that showed how to do this with blending modes and displacement maps. Check out Aharon Rabinowitz’s three part podcast series on Displacement Maps in the podcast section.

Rising up out of the water” implies you need water to cascade off the text and you need the text to be extruded.
If you need flowing water, you will need a true 3D application.
If you just need an illusion, you can achieve that with WaveWorld, Colorama, and some Caustics.
    However, this stuff ain’t easy.

Thanks, I’m checking out the podcast now but I don’t have AE (yet), do you know of a Motion tutorial on the subject? Is it even possible in Motion?
