Underline Text – Vegas
Posted by Pballain on April 26, 2007 at 11:28 pmThere is no way to underline text in Vegas without doing it in another application and brining in an image of the text??? Seems odd…

April 27, 2007 at 5:53 amyou’re right!?
then again, it is a piss-poor titler in the first place. i usually create in ps or hero or bluff, so i hadn’t noticed before….

April 28, 2007 at 1:59 amI agree about the “not so great” titler. So much easier to be able to create text inside the NLE without Photoshop for simple text…oh well…Vegas still is the best NLE out there!

April 28, 2007 at 2:47 ampity really, it’s the only weak spot in vegas – well, there are others, but not as significant when compared to the competition….

Naysayers to the contrary (sorry leslie!!), there is.
Start a new project.
Place the default text event on the timeline.
Now add a solid colour event on a new track above the text track.
Open Pan/Crop on the colour event.
Disable Size About Center and Lock Aspect Ration.
Set Stretch to File Frame to No.
Drag the top, bottom and sides as desired.
Voila!! Instant line 🙂
If you need two lines, add another track with another solid colour event. -

April 28, 2007 at 3:20 amhi mike, fancy meeting you here ;-} hope all is well….
not exactly naysayer – rather it would have been nice to have a simple ‘underline’ button on the media generator tool bar. and yes, i realise the problem that would cause in having the line too thin with a ‘thin’ font.
hey, don’t we all want a simple life?
look after yourself,

I did. But then I got married and had 2 daughters 🙂
BTW, I’m in complete agreement on just how bad the titler in Vegas is.
Almost as bad as Vidcap 🙁
Wishing and hoping for SOME improvements in Vegas 8 – but not holding my breath either.
Keep chopping that wood as there’s a long cold winter ahead to compensate for your brutal summer!!
Take care. -

April 28, 2007 at 5:01 amhow old are they now – i found kids were great once they left home (5 of ’em – i want some support in my old age – safer than superannuation).
actually i quite like vidcap – don’t forget i do a lot of edl work and being able to punch in a list and batch capture is great.
it’s raining today, first in months… just enjoying something other than the sun is a pleasure in itself.. hope it keeps up.
