    Hi,
I’ve got a weird occurance the cause of which I’m not sure is because I’m doing something wrong or it’s a glitch. Several times now I find that my cursor jumps back to the beginning of the time line and when I hit play it seems to loop the first 2 or 3 frames over and over again. This looping happens about 3 or 4 times a second. When this happens I can’t seem to get it to play the full time line. I’ve tried shutting the program down but to no avail. It happens so infrequently I can’t remember how I solved the problem in the past. Sorry I can’t be more precise in describing what is happening, I don’t quite understand it well enough to explain it! Any thoughts?
As usual, many thanks in advance.

It sounds like you have a very small timeline selection at the start of your project. Try turning looping off and make a selection somewhere else on the timeline and it should go away.

    Hi John,
Thanks for getting back to me. I just shut the computer off and re-booted and that seemed to clear it. I seem to remember that if I made a selection say 2 minutes down the time line, the cursor would snapback to the start even with looping turned off, “seem” being the operative word. If it happens again I’ll do as you suggest.
    Thanks,
    Sprague

Look at the bottom of the timeline to the left, next to the red circle. You’ll see a circular line with an arrow. Make sure that’s not pushed in. That’s the ‘looping’ feature that will loop whenever you have a selection made.

Like John says you may have a small area selected. Vegas will remember that when you shut it down and open it again, so you got to unselect it and clear the loop feature first.

    Go:

    Options->Preferences->General and check:Make Space Bar & F12 Play/Pause instead of Play/Stop

Your courser will not jump to where you have started.

    Hi guys,
It’s done it again. I’ve checked for any small bit of unseen media – none. I’ve turned off the looping feature – still does it. I think it’s a glitch as when I go to scroll down through my Project Media clips it snaps right back to the 1st clip. Any thoughts?
    Thanks again,
    Sprague

What do you mean by “scroll down through my media clips” and how do you do it?

    Hi Terry,
I’m not at my computer now but will try to explain. Apart from the weird looping on the time line, if I go to the slider on the right side of the box that holds my project clips in their assigned files (“Music”, “B-roll”, “Gfx”, etc) and drag it to the bottom of the box to look at the clips, when I release the slider is shoots right back up to the top, not allowing me to select a clip, graphic, etc. If my description doesn’t make sense to you I’ll post again tomorrow morning when I’m in front of my screen and describe it in better detail.
    Thanks,
    Sprague

I think I understand what is happening and thats a strange one. Does it happen in any other apps besides Vegas?

Nope, just seems to be Vegas.
