I am using FCP5, Compressor and Flip4Mac Studio HD.

I take a 15 minute 8bit YUV QT into Compressor, Quicktime Conversion or directly to QT Pro and set output for AVI, compression – none.

The AVI file is 3 times as big as the uncompressed 4:2:2 QT.

And the first minute of the AVI video covers the entire QT timeline. I can’t play more than a minute of the program in Flip4Mac enhanced QT player.

When I take the AVI to Winoz, WMP says the file is corrupt, won’t show or play.

Lots of posts talk about exporting uncompressed AVI files.

What codec/settings work in Compressor/QT Conversion/QT Pro for uncompressed AVI?

    George,

What exactly is your goal? What Windows app are you trying to create this file for? Uncompressed AVI is essentially a useless archival codec that simply isn’t used.

Client request for uncompressed AVI of FCP D1 project for future in house compressions.

Lots of posts on FCP forums refer to “just export as uncompressed AVI to tranfer to a PC.”, or similar comments.

Now that I have a request for one and have tried it, the file doesn’t seem to work. I’m just trying to find out how to do this on Mac so it will read on PCs.

    George,

There are innumerable flavors of AVI, each using a specific codec from a manufacturer, the generic uncompressed AVI, which was created by Intel and IBM like twenty years ago is the one I mentioned that in my earlier post that is essentially, if not completely, useless. If you find out which app your client is using I might be able to help you on this.
