uncompressed 10bit RGB in after effects
Hi every body.
I’m new on the forum.
I’m having some problems rendering uncompressed 10bit material in my after effects cs5. I’m working with a tiff seq and when I try to export it in uncopressed 10bit YUV, the colors of my movie are shifted. The original material, so far I know, is in RGB color space.
I can’t find the uncompressed 10bit RGB option in my AE. Does anybody know if it does exist? Maybe a plugin?

Is your project set to 16 or 32 bits per channel?

Are the colors shifted in the Quicktime player, your NLE, and/or when you re-import the rendered file into AE?
Are you using any kind of Color Management?

I have made some tests. I rendered the same fragment of video from After Effects in three different ways.
– Apple ProRes HQ
– Uncompress 10 bit YUV (preserving RGB)
– Uncompress 10 bit YUV (without preserving RGB)When I reimport them to the AE cs5 I see no difference with the originals in AE, and no difference between them.
When I open them in quicktime player 10.0 I see the apple pro res HQ a little brighter than the original in the AE Viewer, and both Uncompressed 10 bit YUV (preserving and not preserving RGB) quite darker.
Now I’m completely lost. -
Don’t use Quicktime X. It’s not ready for prime time. Use Quicktime 7 (should be in your utilities folder).
In Quicktime Preferences, be sure the last option, Enable Final Cut Studio Compatibility, is checked.
You should be good.

I tried QT 7. I still see a difference, but it is not as evident as in QT X. What relieves me now is that I see no difference between AE and Final Cut, so I can make a master from the later with out any color shifts.
