It looks like you have highlight turned on.
Do you have split screen on?
Try selecting the icon on the LHS bottom of the viewer.

Now that you can select nodes I think you should work through the tutorial in the manual and become more familiar with the toolset.

Split screen is on. ( Top bar, “view”-> “spilt screen”) is that what you mean?

Sorry, what do you mean by “LHS” Do you mean “left hand side”?
And how does the icon look like?

Hi, these are all operational issue that I feel you will solve by reading the manual in detail. There is much to learn and so i suggest you start with the tutorial project.
