  • Unable to open a project (located on external drive) on another system

    Hi,

I’m working on a project which is located on an external drive for mobility. On one system it works just fine. On another, the project won’t open.

I get a Scratch Disk message, (I’m not able to change Scratch Disks to the external drive if I start a new project. It says that there is no writing access to that Drive, but there should be, I’ve checked).

I then get the “unknown error” message, and not opening the project.

I’ve also tried to import the project into a new one, but I then get the fantastic “general error”.

    Any clues on this?

    Kind Regards,

    Johan

you could try starting a new project, set scratch disks to a local drive then import the project or sequence from the external drive using media browser.

Keep in mind that older versions of Premiere cannot open Projects created in newer versions.

For example, CC can open a CS6 project, but CS6 cannot open a CC project. Not sure what versions you are running, but that might be an issue.

    Thanks

Thanks guys. Both systems run CS6.

I tried to set scratch disks to local and import through Media Browser, but I only got the “beach ball of death” and Application Not responding…

    Kind Regards,

    Johan
