Hello. I was recently working on a video project in Premiere Pro, and the need to format my computer arose before I had finished this project. So, I then backed up my premiere file, all the source video, and all of the plugins used in the project. However, when I now try to open the project file that I had backed up, I get a sequence of “unable to load library” errors and Premiere ends up crashing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks. 🙂

How did you backup your project? Via the project manager in Premiere Pro 1.5? Try doing a repair install of Premiere Pro to see if it helps.

Well, I realized now that I should have looked into how to correctly back up my project before doing this. 🙂 My backing up consisted of copying the project file and source video to my external hdd. I just did a repair install of Premiere Pro, with no luck. I get the same results.

The sequence is basically as follows:

    1. Click on .prproj file
    2. Premiere opens, but right away I get the ” unable to load library”” ” errors
    3. Errors finally stop popping up, I can see my project, and can actually scrub through the parts with just Premiere title files, but if I try to view any video, the same error starts popping up again.

    1. Create a new project > Import your old project into the new project to see if it resolves the problem. If it does NOT then go on to step # 2

    2. Create a new project and try opening it to see if the problem exists. If it does, then there is something corrupt with the installation. If it does not, then the project is either damaged or corrupted.

Do you have a 3rd party capture card installed…Matrox~Canopus?? If yes, install their drivers.

Importing the old project into a new project yielded the same results, so I guess I’m out of luck this time. Any tips for backing up a project in the future?

Use the project manager and back it up to an external harddrive.
