hi guys. i searched this forum for this error, and i only found two w/c said to update to 6.5.1 and a parenting issue. i’m using AE 7 and i’ve disabled parents and i still get the error. it occurs on when it tries to render a 3D precomp (layer with rasterize on, 3d layers inside, it’s a building with flat sides arranged in 3d space). there’s no error when doing a RAM preview, but when rendering out to animation QT with alpha, it always gets this error. what could be the problem? thanks.

    Troubleshoot:

    – switch off effects
    – try a different codec
    – try rendering to a TGA sequence
    – try rendering to a different drive or defrag the drive
    – try rendering at smaller size/lower res
    – try rendering a shorter work area
    – try rendering RGB only, and add an output module (composition>add output module) with alpha only, then use the alpha as a track matte (for the RGB) wherever you were going to use the RGB+alpha movie

Some of those will give a render you can use, others will just give you clues. Go to it!
