    Using Mac OSX 10.5
    FCP 6

Capturing min DV from a Sony Camera ( DCR-HC42 NTSC)
Connected with FireWire from camera to Computer

Unable to initialize deck, you still may log offline. is this only message I am getting.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Try using Easy Setup.

Did that too. I typically edit HD video, and was a little taken back while trying to change all of the settings manually. What option should I chose for Easy Setup ? I’ve tried NTCS. What options should I chose? Rate? Custom Setup? Thank you.

DV NTSC is all you need. FCP does the rest.

Still nothing. I know that I have captured using this camera before. What the heck am I forgetting this time? Tried 2 different Firewire cables, two different ports on the Mac. I am capturing to an external hard drive, and thought that it may be causing the issue. So, just to test, I tried capturing to my internal system drive and got the same message. Unable to initialize deck. UGH!!!
