I am using AE CS3 on a brand new windows XP with 4G of ram and I keep getting this error. The system seems slow overall to me and will hang up when trying to render seemingly simple frames, such as a 3d line of text over black flying in over your shoulder. I have adjusted ram, cache, and secret settings. Any ideas?

I know this doesn’t solve your hardware problem, but would it make any difference exporting 720×486 and then bringing it into your editing program as an anamorphic clip, letting the software read it as a “squished file”?

    Just tossing ideas out there.

is your line of text created with the text tool in ae?

i’ve found that ae will handle text created in photoshop of illustrator better, particularly if there is a lot of text. i’ve also noticed that precomping the text and manipulating it as a nested comp seems to make ae work better too.

i don’t know if it will reduce the occurrence of that error, but i have noticed ae runs smoother that way, so it may be worth trying.

I’m using text animation in AE. Still doesn’t explain the difficulty to me.

When a vector layer such as a AE text layer comes very close to the camera it becomes too big for your memory, changing the zoom and distance of your camera can avoid this,
so will working with a rasterized text, as explained in the other anwers to your post.
