I recently upgraded my Mac Book Pro to Snow Leopard. Now I can no longer copy DVDs. I make a disc image the usual way, then burn, but when the DVD is mounted it will not show on the desk top, nor automatically play, instead the iDVD screen comes up. In DVD players, I get bad disc messages. I seem to be able to burn from FCP aps but I can’t make copies anymore. Thoughts appreciated.

That is a modifier trying to hook you to the internet for checking permission against the advent of replicating known copyright material. Since checking this material is by no means absolute, copying gets continually harder with new releases of standard OS`s and suites.
With any internet or big network connection removed, go into your DVD copier and adjust options, especially internet options. Some usability will show up afterward. Still, replicating material remains the domain of machines that are always off the internet, and have proven software, and oh by the way, sometimes good cables or tape storage.
