Un-close a mask
Posted by Erin Patrick on March 1, 2006 at 5:22 pmDoes anyone know how to un-close a mask, so you have two separate ends after its already been closed?

March 1, 2006 at 5:32 pmCreate a couple of new vertexes near where you would like to “break” the mask. Select the mask and right-click in between the two new vertexes. Select “Mask” then un-check “Closed”.

March 1, 2006 at 6:01 pmyeah, I saw that “closed” chaeckbox but for some reason it’s ghosted out. Do you know why? Or how I can un-ghost it?
Thanks for the reply!

March 1, 2006 at 6:13 pmYou need to select the layer, then select the mask segment between two vertices.

March 1, 2006 at 6:20 pmMask handling in AE can be kinda squirrelly. Left click the mask (click on the actual mask line) on the segment between the 2 new vertexes you created, and make sure its selected; it should “highlight” and you should see the curve handles etc.
Then try using the application menu (while the segment is still selected):
Layer-> Mask-> Closed (de-select)Ethan Anderson
