ultrastudio express/dvcam
Am trying to capture vid from dvcam to fcp on imac via bm ultrastudio express using component input, since the imac has no firewire ports. I can control the deck, but don’t see a picture. have tried all the ntsc options… ntsc 10 bit, 8 bit, proreshq… still can’t see a picture. have checked that I have hooked up dvcam deck component out and deck is set to output component, and connected to bm breakout box component in, but see nothing. what am I doing wrong? bm box has been rock solid capturing hdcam via hdsdi, but this one baffles me. any ideas? mahalo in advance!

In the BMD desktop video system panel, you have selected the input as component video?
Also why not caputure as a lossless transfer? https://store.apple.com/us/product/MD464ZM/A/apple-thunderbolt-to-firewire-adaptor
You didn’t buy an iMac with one thunderbolt port I hope. If so, you’ll have to uplug the BM while you capture from DVCam if you use the adapter above.
