I’m trying to weigh the possibility of buying Advantedge. It’s my understanding that there still aren’t any tutorials readily available, but since I only vaguely grasp the interface, I’m having a hard time dealing with some flickering/noisy bits in part of a translucent edge using the demo of the software. If I can get that to work, then I’m buying the program.

Some of my footage is shot on HDCam, some of it is shot on DVCpro HD (so I’m switching between 3:1:1 and 4:2:2).

The problems are in regions of fine hair, where on any given frame you would think it’s a really good key, but on playback, it seems very noisy, like the areas that are being dubbed transparent are changing on each frame.

does anyone know what controls I should focus on to fix this kind of a problem?

    Hi Gage,

If you can give us a link to 10-20 seconds of your footage, we can take a look at it for you and give you some suggestions.

It’s true that the 3:1:1 sampling will make things more difficult, but the problems you describe should be able to be handled with the plugin. If you want us to take a look at it, contact us via the web site link below.
