How did you tell it to use 1.5 seconds? All time must be entered in the format of the timeline ruler. For example, if your timeline ruler is set to the default SMPTE Drop Frame 29.970, then 1.5 seconds is 00:00:01;15 or one minute and 15 frames at 29.97fps. Just make sure you enter the time in whatever your timeline ruler is set to.

[Ken Matson] “2) I try to fit to music – and it comes close – but overall video length ends up shorter than audio track by a couple seconds.”

This happens when the length of the music is not evenly divisible by the number of frames needed for the amount of images used. There is no way to make an image display for less than 1 frame so the images can’t always fit the exact music length. The solution is to stretch the music to match the final video length. (I guess we could make that an option and do it for you but currently it doesn’t)

Be careful about what tracks you have selected. If you select the audio track it will adjust the audio too. This is purposely done so that video can be used and the audio matchs the video. Make sure that the audio track is not selected if you don’t want the audio changed.
