In a few weeks I plan to shoot a ton of multi-cam footage, which I hope to edit with Ultimate S (which I still have to purchase). Both of my cameras will be identical models (Canon HF S10’s).

Is there anything special I have to do in Pre, or in the shooting? Or just use a strobe or clapper of some kind, so I can synch the takes up later?

Norman, the few times I’ve done multicam shoots, I bring along a digital camera, make sure all cameras can see it, have them start recording and then take a shot so that the flash goes off.
The key is make sure that all cameras roll continuously until it’s time for a tape change.
If you need to reposition due to a shot change, then repeat the flash procedure again and each and every time you have to stop shooting.

    Hi Mike.

One of the beauties of this whole AVCHD thing is that if one drops a few bucks for the 32GB flash cards, then even in the highest quality recording mode (MXP at 24 Mbps) one can get almost 3 hours of recording time before one has either to change the SDHC card, or else to shift to internal memory (which on the HF S10 is almost another three hours). So one can film for three hours at a shot without re-synching, and for six hours without having to change media at all.

But I just realized that I need a second set of SDHC cards, in case there is not enough time to offload and back up all the files during lunch, before any afternoon filming.
