August 18, 2015 at 8:40 pmI use this free YouTube downloader and can import the videos into Vegas 13. I don’t have ver. 8 to try it. How did you get your YouTube videos?

August 18, 2015 at 8:44 pmNormally with a default Vegas project open, you can just drag and drop on the timeline. Edit. Then “render as” video only track to MPEG2, and audio only to AC-3. Next bring those files into DVDA and make your menus.

August 18, 2015 at 8:59 pmSince they are MP4, GoPro Studio is free and can comvert MP4 into Cineform avi and that should work in Vegas since downloading GoPro Studio gives you the Cineform codec. That format edits very easy in Vegas.

August 18, 2015 at 10:24 pmYou have to keep in mind that Donald is working with SVP 8. Although I started with SVP 5 or 6, I have no idea what SVP 8 supported. Apparently, a conversion is needed to get the files into SVP 8 because the files as downloaded do not work. He could try Danny’s suggested format to see if it works in SVP 8.

August 18, 2015 at 11:52 pmI started with Sony Vegas version 1 when it was Sony Vegas audio and didn’t support video yet. I got into audio editing before I got into video editing. Since then they did have a few versions that included the CineForm codec. I believe if he downloads GoPro studio it will allowed Vegas Pro 8 to handle as Cineform just like it does in 10 12 and 13. I just used free YouTube downloader and downloaded a YouTube clip and GoPro Studio does indeed support it and rendered to Cineform AVI and Vegas 13 handles it great. I believe Vegas 8 could as well, since earlier versions had Cineform included. If his U tube videos don’t work in GoPro Studio due to maybe being an old type of MP4, He should be able to find them on YouTube and download them now, and I just proved they work in GoPro Studio.

August 18, 2015 at 11:56 pmBob has a good point. The poster might want to give Movie Studio or VP13 trial a try. Movie Studio is probably more full featured and supports the latest technologies than VP8.

August 19, 2015 at 12:03 amThat’s a possibility. I’m just offering up a free solution instead of having to buy a new version of Vegas. Unless He can do all of his video editing with his files before the trial runs out.
GoPro studio also has the ability to batch convert so he can add all of his YouTube videos and convert them all at the same time.

August 19, 2015 at 2:17 pmI know pro 8 is an old program. It does what I want it to do. Therefore I have not seen a reason to upgrade. I do very little video work, mostly I do slideshow. Therefore I have had no need to upgrade.
I thank each and every one of you for your suggest. I will use them. Hope all works out well if not you will hear from me.
Thank again for your help. I have no idea what an old man would do without this board.
Thanks.

August 19, 2015 at 3:16 pmUp until just a couple years ago, I used version 8 at Universal Orlando Resort to remake many videos that are currently playing in the some of their rides and shows. All the basics were there in version 8, except a decent chromakey plugin. The only real big updates R 3d, 4k and A stabilization event effect. They still have no decent chromakey plugin. If I had version 8, I’m sure I could make it support your videos with one or more of the suggestions I made. If you do get it working, please come back and tell us how you did it.
