  • Typing text effect where the letters zoom in/grow as well??

Posted by Gizmo1990 on February 1, 2006 at 4:12 pm

I’ve seen some commercials that have their text appearing on the screen in a typing fashion where the text not only dissolves/fades in but also each letter ‘zooms’ up.

I can’t work out how this would be done in AE (5.5 please) using path text? Obviously the typing effect and dissolving in is easy but how would I get control of each letter so it zooms up as it fades in??

Any advice really appreciated, its doing my head in!

To emphasize what Dave said, I would jump up to AE7 now. It has text animators that let you do this in seconds by tweaking a few parameters.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I’ve downloaded the trial version of 7 to see what it can offer.

From first glances I can’t see any new path text functions which would allow me to create the effect I want??

To recap I’d like to be able to type in letters which fade up. As each letter appears it ‘zooms up’ or grows. To do this I’m kinda thinking I’ll need seperate scaling controls for each letter??

Would anyone like to tell me what I missing if 7 is able to achieve this effect eaily?

    Any help much appreciated.

I think I’ve seen what your are talking about… the basic text creation right? The appears to be a new animate button there.

However I still can’t work out how achieve what I’m looking for? 🙁

There’s no ‘visible characters’ setting for a start nor can I see where I would have controls over individual letters scale parameters??

    Please help!

Check out this tutorial… It is for AE 6.0 but I thought that it explaned the newer text features very well.

Thanks for the tutorial link Dave.

Looks like it contains a lot of useful info. I must say AE7 is a massive jump up from 5.5 in terms of what you can do!

Hey no problem, The more you use the newer text tools the more you’ll like them.
