typewriter effect for text
Posted by Sean Bowerman on June 9, 2011 at 6:44 pmhi, does anyone have an idea how to reveal text, letter by letter? apologies if it’s something really simple i’ve missed.

June 9, 2011 at 11:34 pmdepends on the nature of the reveal you are talking about. You can use a Boole or an animated gradient in the Alpha to do a reveal that travels down the letters, with the letters revealing themselves partially, then fully, if you want them to ‘pop’ in (probably I’m guessing), then if you are using the Text or MoText object to generate your text you can keyframe the text adding a letter at whatever frame.

June 9, 2011 at 11:49 pmthanks for this. yes i’m trying to get them to pop up letter by letter. but i have a whole paragraph (20 words) so i guess this keyframing is going to take a while…

June 10, 2011 at 5:55 pmYou could use a Plain Effector to move the letters off stage, make the falloff linear and then animate the effector to bring one letter at a time onto stage.
