Typewriter Effect
Currently, I am using Avid Media Composer V 3.5 and I’m having trouble getting a typewriter effect. I’ve used the Marquee Tool and can’t find anything like a “type-on” effect. I don’t have anything under Boris or my Palette with a “Reveal effect”. I know this is an easy task, but I can’t figure it out! I KNOW there’s a way to do this without add-ons or other plug-ins, but any help would be appreciated.

Not sure about MC, but this is a 5 minute job in After Effects.

Select your Text in Marquee (arrow tool), then go to the Scripts Library (on the bottom left by default).
Navigate to the Scripts Tab > Avid Scripts > Text, and there you’ll find Type-On and a few others.

You’ll find great typewriter effect plugins for AE with a quick search, Jody.
If ya look at my sig, though, it’s just done a character at a time with opacity and position changes for the cursor.
If doing lots of these, the plugin is worth it. If not, just build it.

Of course! Cropping… duh!! I can’t believe I couldn’t think of that. It’s not perfect, but it works just fine. And thank you all for the other tips…I will definitely use those in the future.
