I have been trying to get the “rainbow” effect of having the type follow a slightly curved path, but the Type > Type on Path feature is grayed out. Can’t seem to get it to activate.

Any prerequisites for lighting up this feature on the menu?

You have to make sure the object which contains the path you want to use is selected first before using this function.

That the first thing that I did. I tried every pointer tool. Even tried reducing to paths and then grouping. Never got the “Type following path” to light up on the pull down menu.

Finally did a work around by reducing to paths and then placing each individual letter in the size and angle that I desired. It actually came out more organic looking than the “type following path” rainbow.

Still would like to resolve why no active menu for this feature. Would appreciate any body sending a 1 2 3 steps on how to make it light up.
