I am trying a Keylight demo in AE CS3 and it says on page 24

“Workflow Tip It can also be useful to view the Status and Source side by side as shown in Figure 14 so that you can pick from one
while viewing the result in the other window.”

How do I do this in AE? I always get the same view in both viewer windows in AE using the 2 view vert setting.

If you are wanting to view the original greenscreen plate and the end result side by side, you can precompose the greenscreen shot and apply Keylight to the precomp.

You don’t want to use the 2-view setting, you need to twirl down the arrow next to the composition name in the comp viewer, and there is an option to open comp in new viewer. Using this method, you can have two different comps open side by side – the comp containing your original greenscreen plate open in one, and the comp holding your greenscreen precomp that you are applying keylight to.

There are probably other/better ways to do this, but it’s one way to get the job done.

    Brendan,

I still get the same view in each viewer. It follows what the Keylight menu dictates. I think I just figured out another way. I can double click on the file in the AE Project window, it opens the original greenscreen footage in a new viewer. Then I can change the first AE comp viewer to show the Status view from Keylight and get the two views needed.

Cool. In my post, I forgot to explicitly mention that once you have two comp windows open using the method I described, you can then select either viewer, double-click a comp in your bin and it will open in the selected viewer window. This is pretty much what you ended up doing, it sounds like.
