    Hi,

In my sequence there is a window in an apartment where the highlights are burned out – from the light source outside.
It is shot on RED and it is possible to change the FLUT / ISO to get the details back.

I dont want to do this on the whole image on track 1, because I want the ISO to stay the same as all the clips in the rest of the sequence.

Is it possible to add a new track (duplicate the track underneath), change the exposure in the raw data (FLUT / ISO) on the top layer, mask out the window so that part of the clip on track 2 is exposed as it should?

In other words, I want to recreate the details in the window using the ISO / FLUT in the raw data – without affecting other parts of the clip than the window.

From what I’ve heard RED settings are not versionable. Meaning if you set the red settings on a clip, it will effect all instances of that clip. So if you stack two instances of a shot the way you’re saying, the moment you change the ISO/FLUT settings on the top clip you will also be changing those settings on the bottom clip.
The only way I can see this working is if you duplicated the source R3D and imported it as a new piece of media, but even then I think you’ll run into trouble since name, reel name and TC will be the same.
I know people have been asking for RED settings to be made “versionable” so that you could set different settings for different parts of the clip.

the only option in resolve now is to make a copy of the original file and rename it and import into the timeline and place in the second track on the clip you want to do the changes and doit make sure the timecode and the filedoes not match any of the clips in the timeline as similar timecide clips also could be an issue in resolve .

Ok, this is something they should take a look at.
So how do you “window” og cut out the part you want with this method?

if its a brightwindow then luminance key and use a powerwindow to limit to that area and the use the alpha out same process used to key green screen and in composite mode add i think so

place the shot on the second track above the clip ,if its a brightwindow then luminance key and use a powerwindow to limit to that area, track if needed and now add a alpha output by right clicking on the node window and connect the key to the output point you added and now righclick on the clip for the red settings and change as desired you should fine.
