  • Two Rendering Problems: Slo-Mo and Missing Matte

I’ve finished a project in Premiere 5.5 (Mac) and rendered several version with AME. (MPEG2 Blu-Ray, MPEG2 DVD, H.264 720p for desktop playback). The Blu-Ray render has two problems that don’t show up on the 720p or DVD:

    1) Two short shots that are slowed down to about 50% shimmer and flicker badly on the Blu-Ray (playing back on a PS3/HDTV or my desktop with VLC).

    2) A subtle soft vignette matte that I put on most shots (as an extra video layer) is mysterious missing on many scenes. There are a couple of places where I can actually see it turn on or turn off mid-scene!

Can this latter problem somehow originate in AME? But on some renders and not others?

And does anyone know how /why the slo-mo footage doesn’t work on Blu-Ray? (I shot and edited 1080i.) Is there a trick for making slo-mo smoother?

    Thanks.
