    Please help

Upgraded to latest fcs using fcp
I have a 2 hour fcp project and used quick time conversion to export as a AVI. takes 2 hours to export using a mac quad 4 ghz, 1.2tb storage. the problem is when the export is done it is 45gb but I only get 4 min. of video(the video should be 2 hours) I have tried it on more than one machine.

second problem decided to edit to tape using a gl2 and a xl2 the process seemes to work but instead of recording the project the camera just records blue screen. I never see the video in the camera viewer just blue as the record message is blinking(as it should)

can some one help. I use m2t most of the time but my broadcast system crashed and I must use avi for the back up.

    Thanks
    James

    Hi
This is old infromation, but is probably causing your problem:
    Quote:
“The header for an AVI file includes a 32 bit AVI file length, imposing
a restriction of 4GB on the AVI file size.
VirtualDub can read and write AVI files with hierarchical, 64-bit
indexing specified in the OpenDML 1.02 standard and supported by
both ActiveMovie (Windows Media Player) and QuickTime. This means
you can capture and process files beyond the infamous 2-gigabyte
barrier, and work on video in one segment.”

So all current Windows AVI-creation software, like Windows NLE’s, can cope with long multi-segment AVIs.
Unfortuately QuickTime didn’t – and presumably doesn’t to this day 🙁
