    Hi Guys,

Here’s my issue. I’ve created a heart in illustrator and imported it into AE. Over time I’d like to take “bites” out of the heart. I’ve done this by creating a mask in the shape of a bite. It works for the first bite, but I can’t quite figure out how to add the second bite. It seems that AE will let me add the second mask, but it has no effect on the image ie: the section under the mask is still visible. I’d like to give the impression that another bite has been taken out of the heart.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Check the help on mask modes such as “subtract”.

I don’t want to subtract from the other mask, I just want to add another mask in a different spot.

    Thanks.

[CRUISE] “I don’t want to subtract from the other mask, I just want to add another mask in a different spot.”

Umm, but that’s exactly what those modes are for! They don’t operate on other masks, but the pixels of the layer. You need to get away from your illustrator logic.
