DGW started as a critically-acclaimed documentary and has grown into a full-fledged grassroots movement. Our movie follows the adventures of Darius, a young man with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, as he and his friends-turned-filmmakers travel across the country, angling to get his wheelchair customized on MTV’s Pimp My Ride. Since producing the film, we’ve had the privilege of attending many prestigious film festivals, where we’ve accumulated over 25 awards.

Now we’re hard at work trying to sell one million DVDs. With each DVD selling for $20, $3 goes to making more DVDs and the rest goes straight to Duchenne muscular dystrophy research. Our goal is urgent because Duchenne muscular dystrophy affects children across the world as the most common fatal genetic disease. In reaching our goal, we will raise $17 million to further the quest for a cure.

YouTube has selected one of our promo videos to be featured on its homepage Sept. 5th, 2008. This presents us with a unique opportunity to reach millions of members of the on-line community, and we hope to leverage the exposure into heightened awareness of this terrible disease. We twelve crew members care immensely about our cause, and we hope you will, too. Here is the video that will be featured:
