tv safe dissapeared
my tv safe area lines dissapeared one day and i tried to reinstall FCP studio after that,did it,but they r still gone….is it forever?has anyone had this kinda problem?at home i still have no video monitor or tv(don’t know which is the best to get) and now i don’t have the lines although title safe is checked above the window…the only way i can see a part of it is when i check the timecode overlays and i can see the lines only in that 4 places with nmbrs…pls help

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.Download these free Apple Scripts at

the answer to your specific question, however, is you just need to turn them on again. View menu, go down to “show overlays” and make sure it’s checked. then “Show title safe”
I made it a button and put it on my timeline, since I like to turn them on and off to see how bad my effects are.
