  • TV Logic 173w-3G problems. Anyone else?

Hi all, I’m also posting this in the Apple Color forum as there isn’t a dedicated TV Logic forum.

A company I work with has just taken delivery of a TV Logic 173w-3G LCD screen. I unboxed it and plumbed it in and it looked great, everything worked fine. About a week later another editor told me it was giving him intermittent problems, the buttons being unresponsive, some, such as the OSD menu button, not working at all, then it would just sort itself out and go back to normal.

Now I’m experiencing it as well, The image on screen becomes posterised and no OSD text appears when selecting scan or aspect type and the OSD Menu won’t even come up. It sorted itself out once after switching on and off etc but now it’s happening again with no sign of clearing up.

Anyone else having these issues? Is there something I can do or is it a faulty unit?

    Cheers
    John

Sounds to me like a bad unit if your capture card’s drivers are current and OK…

Thanks for the reply Jerry, that’s my gut response, the problems with the OSD Menu not appearing and the other OSD stuff and buttons being responsive happens without a signal going in to the unit so I doubt there’s anything to do with the Blackmagic card.

I’ll be speaking to our tech supplier tomorrow hopefully it’s just one bad unit as has happened in the past with other stuff and not a common problem with TV Logic as the company will be looking at more of them in the near future.

It could be a bad monitor, but check with your reseller that this monitor is running the appropriate firmware and/or update.

The reseller who supplies our TV Logic monitors always has the latest/appropriate firmware for each model and has the ability to tap in to the programming via USB, factory PGRM, etc.

Hopefully your monitor is not bad at which case it should be replaced at no cost.

Thanks Chad, it’s fresh out the box so it might be that it needs a firmware update.

I was trying to find details about firmware versions and updates as the info on the website makes it sound as if updates can be done by the user via USB.

I’ll be speaking to the supplier tomorrow so hopefully this can get resolved before a critical job hits the suite later this week.

    Thanks
