is there anything wrong with shutting my system down at night when i go home? its a habit i got into with my old discreet, which would often crash if it or the room got a bit overheated…just wondering…

The old school idea is that the boards on the box receive the most amount of wear when starting up due to the initial power fluctuations.
I have been assured though by an Avid Technician that there should be no problems with turning the box off each night.
However, my boss comes from the old school thought so we leave ours on until the weekend.

fwiw, I power down the pc each night unless marathoning a session into the next day. The adrenaline box and the media drives stay humming all the time.
