Is BCC (Boris) loaded on the MC 3.0? There is a day for night preset in the film look settings that you can tweak as needed.

May 7, 2009 at 2:44 pmThe bottom line is you can’t.
Watch Clash of the Titans and you’ll see the best examples of what I’m talking about. You can totally nail the sky and surroundsins but over and over shadows will give you away. If you can, alter the script to justify the day.

I don’t really like to argue with Grinner, but…
This is actually incorrect. As a matter of fact one of the reasons we can get away with Day for night on Earth is that we have a unique situation where the sun and the moon are both the same size as a light source. This has the effect that the full moon casts the same shadows that the sun does.
Next full moon go out at night and you’ll see what I mean.

May 7, 2009 at 5:47 pmAbsolutely, Terry. This doesn’t mean you will have great results without the proper thought, planning and accomodations taken on daylight shooting with night in mind. But with the right approach and circumstances, you can achieve the look. A good reference for what can be done is here:

Or, you might just get lucky. I never seem to ‘just get lucky.’ :-/
