I shot a skit in the woods at dusk, and I need to make the skit appear to be at night in the woods.
I still need to see my characters, but still make it as dark as possible.
I know there must be a work-around for this or an effect that will make this work.
This is my first post here at creative cow. Any ideas?

Classic “day for night” in Hollywood movies was accomplished in-camera by:
    1) stopping down two f-stops
    2) shooting with a #15 blue filter
    3) never shooting from a low angle that would reveal the sky (revealing the sky gives it away)

You can simulate numbers 1 & 2 in post very easily.

There are a lot of third party filters available for FCP. Here is a free one.

I tried to send you to link to a tutorial at another forum, but the COW has a problem with them
so it wasn’t allowed to be posted. Google “Final Cut Pro day for night tutorial” and you’ll
    find it.
