Turning a sphere into a flat plane.
Hey all,
I’m trying to create an animation where a person is holding a globe, and the globe comes towards the camera. As it’s doing that it needs to flatten out to create a flat world map. What I’ve tried doing is creating a flat plane and adding a Spherify deformer. This gives me the look I need for the globe, but when it comes full frame the texture deforms. I’ve applied it to the plane using spherical mapping. I’ve tried UVW Mapping, but it gives me a slight bit of distortion in where the globe looks as if it’s being viewed through a fish eye lens.
