    Hi,
I have a pretty quick question.

I want to know if there is a way that I can parent a layer to another layer, then animate the parent, and at some later point select my child and turn it’s inherited motion into it’s own keyframes?

I’m making a kind of animated collage where certain layers will follow parents, and then switch to a different parent, and all sorts. I know I can achieve the effect by hitting CTRL+D and splitting my layer, then changing the new layer’s parent.. but in this particular comp I think that’s going to get messy and confusing!

    Thanks
    John

for this kind of thing I’d look at using Expressions rather than parenting. If you’re more specific with what you want to accomplish I can post some code.
