Turn off guide layers while exporting
I am working on a template project for local broadcasts, which many users will be accessing. Unfortunately, many people forget to turn off the guide layers (these guides have been generated in photoshop). Is there anyway to turn off the specified layers while exporting?
I was thinking, when the Comp is added to the render queue, the opacity of the specified layers is turned off automatically. Is this possible? Or something similar?

Mmh, why don’t you just define your imported footage as a guide layers in AE? These are non-rendering from the start. Other than that, your idea would be doable with a script, but you’d still need to define the rules. An even better way may be using expressions to link items across multiple comps. You could have an “ugly” comp where the user has prepared custom expression controls or can input text and the actual rendering comp can be completely hidden and only needs to be added to the render queue.

Thanks. But, found the solution in the manual. To anyone else who is interested in knowing about this:
1) Select the PS layers.
2) Layer > Guide Layer
3) Composition > Add to Render Queue
4) Select “Best Settings”
5) Guide Layers -> Always Off.
